DIY IoT: sweet memories

With all the hype that do-it-yourself IoT is getting today, we're seing solderless boards connected to computers. That brings back good old memories to me. At the back of my books you can read that I controlled my electric train using an Atari ST. It was HO scale and I used the computer's parallel port connected to some relays. That was circa 1990. Well I don't have pictures of that but then I moved on to controlling a tinier train with a Psion Series 3 circa 1992. Same solderless boards and relays. I don't have pictures from that time either but I do still have the hardware, thanks to my parents: Unfortunately it's disconnected now, but wouldn't require much to get connected again. Between the parallel port and relays there where (one for each output) a transistor and a resistor. 8 relays, 8 resistors, 8 transistors: I managed to control 8 independent outputs. Which allowed me in turn to control the train's movement (forward, backwards), plus rail

See me at Dev Day: ASP.NET Core MVC session

Just like last year I'm proud I'll speak at Dev Day Mons . Proud because this is a great event. My session will be the following: ASP.NET Core: why, how? Whatever your prior experience in the Web, we'll see why and how to build a web application with ASP.NET Core MVC. A great way to catch up with ASP.NET Core MVC in case you didn't get into it yet. All day long you can meet me at the lounge and get my signed books. Plus Dev Day attendees get a chance to win my books. Dev Day Mons is a one-day event where developers can catch up with hot development technologies in a nice and friendly environment. It takes place on November 28 2017 and you still have one week left to buy your early bird ticket for half the regular price. So get it now . PS: session description in French for those eager to know: Quelle que soit votre expérience préalable dans le Web, nous verrons pourquoi et comment réaliser une application web avec ASP.NET Core MVC.
